Gameplay
Set in the snowy village of Pokke, the game follows the story of the Monster Hunter through his adventures. The village itself is by no means ordinary but is home to a monster hunting guild. In this very village you will find all the necessary tools and weapons for your future endeavors. If you have been a fan of Freedom 2 you can easily copy your profile to the new edition of the game but if you did miss it, well, you can create your own new character. With over 1500 weapons and 2000 armor sets, you can have limitless possibilities of creating the perfect Monster Hunter.
A very noticeable change is the enhanced role of 'Felynes'. The earlier version had only minor roles for the cat-like creatures. The Freedom Unite lets you train a Felyne as a travelling and hunting companion on your missions. The Felyne is not only useful in hunting missions as a distraction to the monsters but also is capable of collecting resources. The AI companion can also be shared among player while in the multiplayer mode.
The game can be played in single player and multiplayer options. The single player follows a theme and requires you to complete the missions single handedly whereas the multiplayer option lets you have around three players to collaborate over the PSP's wireless network while tackling the monsters.
